2018 List of Best US Cities for College Grads
US college graduates have recently been choosing to reside in urban areas. Lower costs of living, access to public transportation, and more job opportunities are key factors that come with living in cities. Some of these cities, however, have more to offer than others, attracting more college graduates, Business Insider reports.
Business Insider explores the top ten best US cities for college grads using a new analysis from Brookings Institution demographer William Frey.
“His research pushes against assumptions that most college-educated millennials are living in big, coastal urban centers, like Los Angeles and New York. As you’ll see below, young Americans are settling in cities across the country,” said Business Insider.
Frey researched the percentage of college-educated millennials among the total millennial population looking at the 100 largest metro areas across the nation.
The list starts at #6 because there are multiple tied results. Take a look at the top ten:
6. Denver, Colorado

To recap, Boston and Madison are among the top US cities that have attracted the most college graduates. The economic growth of these cities listed are relatively high, and according to Business Insider, college graduates can significantly increase cities’ tech industries.
This research raises this question: should a college grad move to a job after graduation, or give up a higher paying job to live where they want?
This is a question that all college graduates are faced with and there definitely is not an easy answer. Hopefully, this list makes clear that city living is the new trend and is – in some respects – the more viable option.
