$325,000 Iron Man Suit Stolen From Prop Warehouse
The Iron Man suit, originally worn by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in the 2008 Marvel movie, was reportedly stolen from The Movie Prop Storage in Pacoima, California, on Tuesday.
“The prop house said that the suit was taken between Feb. and April 25 of this year,” PEOPLE reported.
In the initial report about the burglary, the Los Angeles Times valued the costume at $325,000.
Employees at the warehouse “just happened to check” Tuesday and noticed the costume was gone, according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Christopher No, who talked the Times.
The missing suit was used in the 2008 film, according to the LAPD. Different costumes have been used in subsequent releases of the film.
The Iron Man movie was one of the initial films in the recent Marvel craze, totaling $585 million at box offices worldwide.
Twitter, of course, has a lot of theories on what happened:
Are we going to pretend as if we didn’t know who stole the Iron Man suit? That’s what Marvel gets for not letting @RobertDowneyJr keep the props 😂 pic.twitter.com/cRHd95bH0x
