38 North Carolina Colleges are Waiving Their Application Fees

Now is the perfect time to consider applying to colleges in North Carolina.

This week as a part of North Carolina’s annual campaign for college access, 38 four-year colleges and universities in have waived their application fees for all applicants. Students in counties impacted by Hurricane Florence will have an extended fee waiver, with the period ending at 5 p.m. on Nov. 16.

North Carolina’s 58 community colleges will also be waiving their fees this week and for a month for hurricane impacted counties.

“NC Countdown to College” is sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC). Throughout the month of October, the organization will be assisting high school seniors in completing FAFSA, verifying their residency and applying to college.

Application fees can add up when students are applying to multiple colleges, and the fees might prohibit some from applying at all. The CFNC and participating schools are working together to promote greater access to higher education, especially during a time of distress in the state.
