For $26,300, you can get an Ivy League Masters Degree Online

Online education platform Coursera is offering their first Ivy League degree, a masters from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, in computer and information technology.

Coursera announced the offering today, at a total cost of $26,300, which is roughly half of what most U Penn masters degrees cost in total. Degrees vary by discipline at U Penn.

This is the first full online degree program to be offered by the Ivy League located in Philadelphia.

“Schools have been offering online courses for over a decade,”Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda told EdSurge. “But now, the richness and quality of the experience for students is really enticing universities, even the best universities in the world, Ivy League schools, to say, ‘we can deliver the quality that we’ve always been known for at a level of access and costs that’s never been available before.’”

The degree doesn’t require applicants already hold a undergrad degree in computer science, though they are required to have an undergraduate degree of some kind.
