Friday Scoop: Theresa May, President Trump and the University of Oklahoma
Here’s Your Morning Scoop.
It’s Friday, May 24, 2019. Theresa May, President Trump and the University of Oklahoma are in the news this morning. Here’s what you need to know:
UK Prime Minister Theresa May has resigned. May will continue in her role until a replacement is chosen. She cited the failure to follow through with Britain’s exit from the European Union as the reason for her resignation. “I will shortly leave the job that it has been the honor of my life to hold — the second female Prime Minister but certainly not the last,” May said in her address on Friday morning, CNN reports.
President Trump has ordered US intel agencies to provide information for Attorney General William Barr as he investigates surveillance around Trump’s 2016 election, CNN reports. A memo was released by the White House Thursday night which ordered declassification of information to enable this investigation.
The University of Oklahoma will be unlisted in the 2019 edition of the Best Colleges Rankings. The rankings are produced each year by the U.S. News & World Report, and the company which makes the rankings said that Oklahoma has been giving false data since 1999. Interim OU President, Joseph Harroz Jr. announced, “Rest assured, our University has learned from this occurrence and is working toward the goal of achieving future rankings for 2020 and beyond that reflect OU’s excellence and academic success.”
