University of Florida student Theodore Tenaglia was arrested Wednesday on charges of aggravated stalking and burglary after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home to retrieve a sweater he had left there, according to police.

A Gainesville Police report says Tenaglia had emailed his ex-girlfriend several times — who he had been in a relationship with for about a year and a half until breaking up two months ago — indicating he wanted to see her on Valentine’s Day and get his sweater.

He went to his ex-girlfriend’s residence and banged loudly on the door. His ex was inside, but did not answer the door out of fear, according to police per the Gainesville Sun.

Tenaglia then entered the home through a back window after removing a screen.

His ex told police that she had blocked him on all social media, which is why he was emailing her.

According to the Sun’s account:

After the incident, police say Tenaglia sent the woman emails that said, “I’m sorry if I scared anyone there if you just leave my stuff outside to tomorrow I’d appreciate it,” and “Please don’t press charges I’m out of you life I’m sorry.”

The woman told police she feared Tenaglia because on Tuesday he had gotten into her vehicle and refused to get out after she told him to. The woman drove him to his fraternity house thinking he’d get out, but he didn’t and started screaming at her.

Afraid, she jumped out of her vehicle in the middle of the roadway and ran to the fraternity house, where other members of the fraternity had to help get her get Tenaglia out of the car, the report says.

Tenaglia was arrested at a fraternity house, but it was unclear if he was a member.
