Google Seeks to Make the College Search Easier

Yesterday, Google updated their search engine to put data that is typically hard to find about colleges front and center by accumulating this information into a single widget.

Now, by simply searching a school’s name, you can find information such as cost, admissions, rankings, majors and details about the student body and typical outcomes, all in one place.

However, the new feature only applies to four-year colleges. You’ll have to keep digging to find information about other college options.

“Google is mostly getting this data from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. The company notes that it worked with research and nonprofit organizations, as well as high school counselors and admissions professional to design the new experience,” according to TechCrunch.
