Anonymous Person Buys $1M Worth of Toys at Toys ‘R’ Us to Donate to Kids

The retailer was set to close for good on Friday night but not before a generous soul did something unexpected.

Toys ‘R’ Us announced its closure earlier this year, and as its stores went down one by one, so did many of our childhood memories. However, the magic that is Toy ‘R’ Us lived a little longer when an anonymous person bought $1 million worth of toys to donate to kids.

According to WFLA, an employee at the Raleigh, North Carolina location would not be a part of the hundreds of store open on Friday for the final day of business due to an anonymous person purchasing the remaining stock.

Instead, the staff will be spending their last day boxing the toys to put on a truck.

And if the closure of Toys ‘R’ Us and this kind person’s deed wasn’t enough to pull at your heartstrings, the store’s mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, has some final words for you.

“Thanks to each of you who shared your amazing journey to (and through) parenthood with us, and to every grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, and sister who’s build a couch-cushion rocket ship, made up a hero adventure, or invented something gooey,” the store’s homepage reads under an image of Geoffrey. “Promise us just this one thing: Don’t ever grow up. Play on!”
