Benedict Cumberbatch Saves Cyclist From Attack in London

He’s a hero in real life too!

Several media outlets are reporting that Benedict Cumberbatch — who played the eccentric Sherlock Holmes and recently finish doing press for the Marvel’s “Avengers Infinity War,” where he portrays Doctor Strange — stopped a cyclist from being attacked by four men late at night in London over the weekend. The incident occurred on Marylebone High Street which is near the statue of Sherlock Holmes.

According to an Uber driver who was driving Cumberbatch and his wife that night, they saw the attack happening from their car. Both Cumberbatch and Mr. Dias got out of the car to stop it.

The New York Times was able to get a comment about the incident from Mr. Dias. “I had hold of one lad and Benedict another. He seemed to know what exactly what he was doing. He was very brave. He did most of it, to be honest.”

Dias continued to praise Cumberbatch for his heroic actions. “They tried to hit him, but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn’t injured. Then I think they also recognized it was Benedict and ran away.”

The police though cannot confirm those who were involved in stopping the attack. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police in London published its record of events and said there was no mention of a celebrity intervention in the incident, the cyclist did not go to the hospital, and no arrests have been made at this time.
