Dez Bryant to Sign With New Orleans

The Saints have made it abundantly clear that they are all in for a Super Bowl this season.

Just days after the Saints handed the last unbeaten team in the NFL their first loss — moving New Orleans to the top of most NFL power rankings — the Saints have reached an agreement with former Dallas Cowboy Dez Bryant.

The deal is for one year and is expected to be signed by Bryant on Thursday. The news comes after the Saints held a workout for multiple NFL veterans, including Bryant, during a Tuesday practice.

For the Saints, this move is huge. Bryant has Hall of Fame caliber talent even as he nears the end of his career. Matching him with quarterback Drew Brees only improves the chances for the wideout to make his comeback to the NFL a big one.

New Orleans addresses probably the only weakness they had on their team, the wide receiver position. Michael Thomas managed a 200 yard performance last week, but the next two receiving leaders for the team were a tight end and a running back. Bryant has the ability to immediately factor in to the Saints offense as a number two or three receiver.

For Bryant the deal is like striking gold.

The veteran avoided another season on a terrible Dallas Cowboys team and managed to land on the Super Bowl favorite at the midway point. Bryant can show the league he still has what it takes to possibly land a bigger contract in free agency while also possibly winning his first Super Bowl ring.
