Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ is Breaking Records
Drake has broken his own single-day streaming record on Apple Music with his fifth album, “Scorpion.” Drake previously held the record with his fourth album, “More Life.” Apple Music says “Scorpion” currently holds both the US and global streaming records for the service, and the debut is the largest single-day streaming total for any album on any streaming service to date. The album is reportedly being streamed over 170 million times.
The rapper is also making an impact amongst Spotify users as “Scorpion” shattered the Spotify record for the biggest opening-day with an enormous 132 million streams on June 29. This is nearly double the number of streams of the previous record holder, Post Malone.

Spotify shared that the album was being streamed over 10 million times per hour when it dropped on Friday. All 25 tracks are currently in Spotify’s top 50, according to the company’s public charts.
Both Apple Music and Spotify are going hard on the “Scorpion” promotion. Apple Music launched a website that allows visitors to create their very own “Scorpion” album cover. Spotify has teamed up with Drake for their first global dedicated artist takeover, called “ScorpionSZN,” whereby Drake takes over multiple playlists on the same day.
On Friday afternoon, the RIAA announced that Drake has become its top certified digital singles artist, with 142 million to date. The 25-track “Scorpion” includes the No. 1 hits “Nice for What” and “God’s Plan.” The album also features Michael Jackson on a previously unreleased track.
