Famed Fashion Photographers Testino and Weber Accused of Sexual Harassment
Prominent fashion photographers Mario Testino and Bruce Weber joined the string of big-named celebrities accused of sexual harassment.
Testino and Weber have ruled the fashion world for decades, shooting covers and campaigns for names and brands such as Vogue, Calvin Klein, Cindy Crawford, and Abercrombie & Fitch. They are especially known for their racy and elaborate work.
In the past few months, over 20 male models and assistants of Testino and Weber have accused one or the other of sexually harassing. According to the New York Times, some of the claims against Testino date back to the mid-90s.
These claims detail a collection of moments in which a direct abuse of power was used to sexually coerce male models.
According to the Times, models faced many occasions where they believed there was unnecessary nudity and touching involved by both accused parties.
Condé Nast, the company in charge of Vogue, announced they will no longer be working with Testino or Weber, “for the foreseeable future,” according to BBC. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue and artistic director of Condé Nast, claims the news is “hard to hear and heartbreaking to confront.”
This comes during a time where sexual harassment on-and-off screen is being recognized for what it is: wrong.
The #MeToo movement has helped hundreds of sexual assault and harassment survivors to come forward and talk about what really goes on in day-to-day life.
