Former Hunter College Student Won’t Leave Dorm Room
A woman living in a New York City college is testing the limits of the phrase “better late than never”. Thirty-two year old Lisa Palmer is being sued by her former school, Hunter College, for racking up $92,000 in unpaid housing fees.
CBS New York reports that Palmer stopped enrolling in the college in 2016. She has remained in the dorms ever since, because she “[feels] like every semester is a new opportunity to register for courses” and that she “should just stay and fight the case”.
The lawsuit reports that Palmer’s request for summer housing in 2016 was denied, which is what led to her stakeout. Despite notices from the school that she would be charged $150 per day that she overstayed, Palmer remained in the dorm, and refused to honor a 30-day eviction notice issued by the school in September of 2017. This prompted Hunter College to file a lawsuit against her. She has disputed the charges and continues to live inside the dorms.
A representative from the school gave no comment to CBS.
