Free Abortion Pills Available in Another Canadian Province
One topic of controversy that has graced America for years: abortion, and whether or not it should be legal. Protests and rallies are held by people on both sides of the fence – and places like Planned Parenthood are threatened with shutdowns and money losses almost daily.
However, in Canada, things are different. Since July of 2017, provinces around Canada have been providing women with free access to Mifegymiso, a legal abortion pill that can end pregnancies up to nine weeks.
British Columbia will be joining the wave starting January 15th. The pill, which is usually around $300, will be free to any woman with access to a doctor’s prescription.
The United States, on the other hand, has not provided free access to the abortion pill in any of its states, unless one is able to do so through their individual health insurance. The pill and procedure can cost up to $1000 in America, according to Planned Parenthood’s website.
2018 is a year that already seems to have women and their rights in mind. Providing women with the freedom to control their own fates is a powerful step forward for mankind.
