Gmail Now Allows You to ‘@’ Mention People Within Emails

Gmail has recently introduced new features, including a snooze button for incoming messages, Smart Compose that suggests words and phrases to autocomplete your sentence as your typing, and in-text user mentions.

Just like Twitter, when you type the @ symbol followed by a name, Gmail will bring up a list of everyone in your contact list with that name and once you select one, a mailto link labeled with their name will be added.

The recipients can simply click the link and a new window will come up to reply directly to the mailto linked contact.

You can also use the + sign instead of the @ symbol, and the contact will automatically be added as a recipient of your message.

“Both features are already live in the new Gmail interface – you can turn it on by choosing the option in the menu that pops up when you click the gear icon in the top right of your inbox,” according to The Next Web.
