GRAMMYs President Says Women Need to ‘Step Up’: Twitter Reacts…
#GrammysSoMale?
That’s the hashtag brewing after Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where only one of the nine main prizes presented during the telecast was won by a woman. Twitter reacted accordingly.

4 pop goddesses nominated and the award goes to the generic pop stylings of Ed Sheeran. #GrammysSoMale

MORE: The gender gap at the #GRAMMYs is real. From 2013-2018 only 9.3% of Grammy nominees were female (90.7% were male) | #GrammysSoMale #gender #gendergap pic.twitter.com/utgkZGQbCH

If you are complaining about the #GrammysSoMale hashtag, you really don’t get it. It’s not that men’s music wasn’t good enough to be awarded, it’s that women are making great music as well yet only 9% of the nominees in the last 5 years have been women.

Isn’t it great how the #GRAMMYs claims to be so current & relevant – black outfits.. Time’s Up badges.. white roses.. Kesha giving a moving performance with women on stage..
And yet Every single major award last night was won by a male artist? 🤔

I’m 51. And Sting is a fine artist. He wasn’t nominated for anything. He got 10 minutes of screen time. Lorde, the only female Album of the Year nominee, got exactly zero stage time. #GrammysSoMale https://t.co/qIUByGcRe6

Once again, #EdSheeran wins over much stronger female contenders, so instead of #kesha's song about overcoming sexual abuse, we reward another song by a man about a woman's body. #GRAMMYs #metoo #timesup #grammyssomale
