Houston Teen Gets Accepted to 20 Top Tier Colleges

Houston teen Michael Brown has recently shocked himself and the world by getting accepted to all 8 Ivy League Colleges and 12 other top tier colleges. But that isn’t all–Brown earned a full ride to all of them. These colleges demanded everything from their applicants, and Brown certainly had it all: a GPA well over a perfect 4.0, a near perfect SAT and ACT score, club extracurriculars and internship experience. At 17, Brown probably has a better resume than most recent college graduates and with attendance at a top tier university, his resume will only grow stronger.

So we all know that Ivy League colleges are notoriously difficult to get accepted, but what exactly are the odds? A critical component is often a high GPA, much higher than the US high school average.

Of course, applicants also need strong test scores, essays, and a well rounded group of activities.

But what exactly does it mean to get into all eight Ivy League schools? Well, it means that Brown is among the top 4-10% of applicants to be accepted depending on the school. What’s almost equally as shocking is the sheer volume of applicants that some of these schools get. A majority of them get above 30,000 applicants and Cornell nearly had 45,000.

His success seemed to blow up on Twitter with people from all over sending tweets of congratulations. Some even mentioned how difficult even filling out applications can be:

Brown has one month to decide which he will attend. Best of luck to Michael Brown!
