Harvard Undergraduate Council website gets hacked by Iran Cyber Security Group

Harvard’s Undergraduate Council website was hacked Thursday evening by a group who claimed they were an Iran Cyber Security Group.

The Harvard Crimson reports, “During the hack—which lasted for at least half an hour—visitors to the website encountered a cartoon of President Donald Trump being punched in the chin by an individual whose face was not depicted but who wore a wristband striped the colors of the Iranian flag: green, white, and red.”

The hack seemed to only affect the Undergraduate Council website, which was restored by Friday morning.

Students protest for the “decolonization” of Columbia

Roughly 20 students marched into Columbia’s Butler Library Tuesday calling to “decolonize Columbia,” carrying signs and verbally denouncing white supremacy.

The Columbia Daily Spectator reports, “Protesters demanded the University replace or rename statues, make its curricula more diverse, increase faculty diversity, recognize the debt owed to marginalized peoples, such as the Lenape people, and recognize the decision by graduate students to unionize.”

The protest was organized by the members of the Liberation Coalition and The Native American Council.

Quote of the Week:

“My story is just one of millions, and [it] shows the need to update our immigration system. We’re fighting to keep our families together. We’re fighting to preserve our American lives. We’re fighting to be treated with respect and dignity. We have to speak up. … We have to do everything in our power to stop the injustices going on around us, even though they seem so hard to stop.”
