Investigators Believe Body of Iowa Student Mollie Tibbetts has Been Found, Arrest Made

On Tuesday, the body of missing college student Mollie Tibbetts was found, after a month of being reported missing. Tibbetts was last seen July 18, jogging near her home in the central Iowa town of Brooklyn. Her disappearance set off a massive investigation, raising nearly 400,000 dollars for a reward, to bring her home safely.

According to The Associated Press, there will be no further details until this afternoon. “The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation planned an afternoon news conference to update the public on the case. A spokesman for the agency has not returned a message seeking comment.”

Just last week, investigators were focusing on five areas in and near her hometown, to get leads on this case. Those include her boyfriend’s home in Brooklyn, a car wash, a truck stop, and two farms.

According to ABC News, a first-degree murder charge was filed late Tuesday afternoon against an undocumented immigrant in the case of missing Iowa jogger Mollie Tibbetts. The suspect is 24-year-old Christian Rivera, who live near the are where Tibbetts disappeared, investigators report.
