Judge Tosses Stormy Daniels Defamation Lawsuit Against Donald Trump

Monday evening, a federal judge has dismissed adult film star Stormy Daniels’ defamation lawsuit against President, Donald Trump. The origins of this saga started when Stormy Daniels claimed President Trump defamed her when he suggested she had lied about being threatened to keep quiet about their relationship and to invalidate a hush agreement over an alleged affair.

Daniels claimed was warned by an unidentified man to keep quiet about the affair in 2011, after she gave an interview to a gossip magazine about her encounters. In April, Trump responded in the most Trump way possible, over Twitter.

According to CNN, “Daniels argued Trump’s tweet “attacks the veracity of her account” of the incident and that Trump’s statement was “false and defamatory, and that the tweet was defamation … because it charged her with committing a serious crime,” District Judge S. James Otero wrote in his opinion Monday.”

The ruling ordered Daniels to pay Trump’s legal fees as his final decision and said the number of legal fees owed would be determined later. Currently, Stormy Daniels attorney, Michael Avenatti has posted a statement on Twitter, stating “Daniels’ other claims against Trump and Cohen proceed unaffected. Trump’s contrary claims are as deceptive as his claims about the inauguration attendance. We will appeal the dismissal of the defamation cause of action and are confident in a reversal.”
