Michigan College Student Dead After Her Father Commits Murder-Suicide
Police believe a Michigan businessman shot and killed his wife and daughter before turning a gun on himself late last week, a grisly murder-suicide that claimed the life of a Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) student.
21-year-old Katelyn Bonini was studying psychology at SVSU. Her body was discovered by authorities at the family home in Sebewaing, Mich., which is about 95 miles north of Detroit. There was no record of any domestic violence or police visits to the home prior to the killings.
Bob Bonini owned a carpet and tile cleaning company that bore his namesake. Margo Bonini worked at the village’s sole library, according to MLive. It is the first time in nearly 40 years that a murder has occurred in the small Michigan town.
The bodies were discovered after a family friend was unable to reach anyone at the home and called police.
The SVSU student newspaper, The Valley Vanguard, reported that Katelyn was adopted by the Boninis when she was less than a year old. A memorial service for her is planed for February 22.
