Miss America Rids Their Swimsuit Competition
The next Miss America pageant will scrap swimsuits and will be more of a competition for all women, they announced Tuesday.
According to CNN, Gretchen Carlson, the chairwoman of the Miss America board of directors stated “Miss America will be a competition, not a pageant…We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. That’s huge,” Carlson stated.
The current Miss America tweeted today in support with a witty hashtag, #byebyebikini

In place of the session, it will be an interactive panel with the judges where she will highlight her achievements and goals in life and how she will use her talents, passion, and ambition to perform the job of Miss America.
With the executive leadership team consisting of all women now, and Carlson, a former cable-news anchor who became a vocal advocate of the #MeToo movements, is now Miss America’s chair.
