Nicki Minaj Pays Tuition for 37 Students

Last year, Nicki Minaj responded to a fan’s tweet about college tuition, which led to a streak of paying off student loans and tuition for dozens of fans. Minaj is constantly encouraging her fans to stay in school and complete their education, so it was no surprise that she chose to begin an ongoing college tuition fund, “Student of the Game.”

The winners will have their college expenses; including tuition, books, or accommodation costs paid for by the queen of rap herself. According to the contest terms, all money will be paid to the school or lender after verification. The amount requested may be different from the amount given.

In order to enter, college students shared the amount of money needed along with the #StudentOfTheGame hashtag on social media. Minaj’s team filtered through thousands of entries and selected 37 winners who were announced on her website. All 37 fans will have either their student loan debts or college tuition payed by Minaj. As thousands of students applied, the announcement was delayed many times before the winners were finally chosen. In early June, Minaj tweeted, “This shit has been very time consuming but I’m so moved by your desires to stay in college. So proud. You have no idea.”
