One Dead and Two Injured after Georgia Graduation Ceremony
One person was killed and two wounded in a shooting on Friday night when an argument led to a shooting outside a high school graduation ceremony in Clayton County, Ga., police said.
Shots were fired in the parking lot of Mount Zion High School off Mount Zion Road, just south of Atlanta.
The incident occurred as people were heading to their cars after a graduation for the Perry Learning Center, Clayton County Schools Safety Chief Thomas Trawick said. The ceremony was held across the street from Mount Zion High School at the school’s performing arts center.
Clayton County Fire Department confirms that there were three victims who were transported to area hospitals. Two of the victims suffered from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was a 21-year-old that was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the leg, while another woman was taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital. According to officials, the woman, who was pregnant, was not shot but was hurt when she was pushed.
The third victim, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Southern Regional, but was later pronounced dead after being shot three times in the chest, officials said.
