A student from Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. was identified by police today as being the victim of a shooting in the Little Havana area of Miami.

19-year-old freshman Priscilla Torres had texted a friend that she was on her way back to the dorms at around 5am Saturday morning, but never arrived, according to a report from NBC Miami.

There was a report of a shooting not long after Torres’ text had been sent.

First responders found Torres at the scene and rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

A motive in the killing is unclear at this time, though police have not yet recovered the vehicle she was driving.

The university issued the following statement on Twitter:

Anyone with any information in the case is being asked to call Miami Police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.

We dropped two mixtapes in six months. And we take the news very seriously.
