Two Shot at Los Angeles Area Middle School

Two students were shot at Salvador Castro Middle School in the Westlake area of Los Angeles this morning, multiple reports are confirming. Three others were also injured. The shooting took place in a classroom.

Victims are reported to be a 15-year-old male in critical condition and a 15-year-old female in fair condition. The boy was shot in the head Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed.

Reports confirmed that a 12-year-old female student has been taken into custody by LAPD and a firearm has been recovered.

LAPD received a call of shots fired at a school in the 1500 block of West Second Street about 8:55 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison, per KTLA in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that students who were in the classroom were put in handcuffs, patted down and then released.
