Senate to Release Transcripts from Trump Tower Interviews

The investigation into President Trump and his ties to the Russian government continue after a Senate Committee announced that it will release transcripts from interviews between Trump aides and a Russian attorney in 2016.

The meeting took place in Trump Tower and was attended by multiple Trump aides. Donald Trump Jr. and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were among those in attendance.

Trump Jr. confirmed that he attended the interviews to receive insider information on Hillary Clinton that would assure his father the Presidency. Initially, he had stated that the meeting would be held to discuss the adoptions of Russian children by American families.

Several media outlets reported that President Trump had dictated the first statement about adoption in a deliberate attempt to mislead the press.

The release of the transcripts of the interviews are one part of the investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties with Moscow.

“Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said the panel would start releasing ‘all witness interviews that we have done related to that meeting’ right away and ‘get them out to the public for everyone to see,'” BBC reports.

The committee is one of four investigations being made into Trump’s ties to Russia.

Multiple Trump officials in attendance at the controversial meeting have been interviewed. Some include music promoter Rob Goldstone, Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin and Anatoli Samochornov, a translator for Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Grassley announced the release of the transcripts after he felt that his committee had finished their investigation into the Trump Tower meeting.

The release of the Trump Tower meeting transcripts comes during the investigation of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 Presidential Election, which many believe helped boost Trump’s rise to the Presidency.

It is currently unknown exactly when the transcripts will be released.
