The Week in White House Drama: Haley Doesn’t Get Confused, While Comey Strikes Again

This week’s major drama is all about Russia and the ever-present specter of former FBI Director James Comey. Other drama includes an unfortunate flub by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, threats by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Stormy Daniels stirring up some more drama.

The Big Drama

On the Russia front, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley was embarrassed by the White House after the staff refuted a statement she made claiming the United States would levy additional sanctions against Russia. However, while many Trump cabinet members have quietly withstood public humiliation from the White House, Haley refused to allow this treatment. When White House officials stated that Haley was confused, she replied, “With all due respect, I don’t get confused.”

Soon after Nikki Haley became the first Trump cabinet member to stand up to the President and his staff, Attorney General Jeff Sessions also issued a threat to the President, after rumors that Trump would be firing another staff member – this time Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Rumors that Rosenstein would be fired emerged after the FBI raid of Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s office. A number of angry tweets and comments were issued as Trump threatened to fire both Rosenstein and Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Following these threats, the Washington Post reported that Sessions told White House counsel Don McGahn that he would leave his position if Trump followed through on his threats. Could yet another high-profile member of the Trump administration choose to leave soon?

More Drama Bombs

 Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had an awkward moment this week after she tweeted a photo of the Trump situation room during the Syria bombing – but Mike Pence is in the photo. Why is that an issue? Pence was not even in the country at the time, instead, on a trip to Peru. Misleading much? Sanders did not think so when she clarified the moment, claiming that the photo was from a briefing on Syria the Thursday before the bombing.

This mistake is just another dramatic moment in the week following the controversial bombing and was just another misleading moment leading up to and following the surprising decision.

Speaking of surprising moments, the Comey memo was finally leaked this week after much fanfare by the White House and mainstream media outlets. While the document, released by CNN, mainly contains insight into former FBI Director James Comey’s thought process while he met with the President, there were other disturbing details in the memos.

No tidbit was more disturbing than the revelation that Vladimir Putin told Trump that “we have the best hookers in the world.” Not exactly the words someone wants to hear from one of the most threatening leaders in the world.

Comey also recounts that Trump had “serious reservations” about former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who later plead guilty to lying to federal agents. So, it seems Trump’s judgement on the matter is not the worst.

• Long-time Trump fan and Fox News host Sean Hannity and President Trump share more than just a strange fascination with each other. It was reported this week that Hannity was a hidden client of Michael Cohen, who is also known as the lawyer who paid off Stormy Daniels and had his office raided last week.
• Stormy Daniels says she will donate the hush money she got from Michael Cohen to hide her alleged affair with the President to Planned Parenthood. She also claimed she would add any money she won from suing the President to the $130,000 she received from Cohen in her donation.
