This Weekend Is Your Last Chance to See a Blue Moon Until 2020

The second blue moon of 2018 will happen this Friday night into Saturday morning.

These blue moons are not as uncommon as you might think, as they usually occur around once every 2.7 years, according to space.com.

Since this will also be the fourth full moon of the year, it is called a ‘Sap Full Moon’ because it marks the time of year when the trees are being tapped for sap to make all your favorite kinds of syrup.

However, everyone might not get the chance to see this phenomenon, because of the iffy spring weather.

The best place to see the blue moon will be in the South and near the West Coast, while those on the East Coast with a cold front on the way might not be as fortune.

The next occurrence of a blue moon will be Halloween night of 2020. Spooky.
