Tony Winner Injured in Crash, 4-Year Old Daughter and Toddler Killed

On Monday March 5, tragedy struck Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles and her family. Following a car accident in New York City, Miles is one of three injured victims and her four-year old daughter Abigail Blumenstein is one of the two fatalities. Miles is currently pregnant.

Miles is best known for her 2015 role in “The King and I” on Broadway, which won her a Tony award for “Best Featured Actress in a Musical.”

According to Lt. John Grimpel of the NYPD, the accident was caused by a driver who failed to gain control of her car. The driver, a 44-year old woman who is claiming that the accident was caused by an apparent seizure, struck several pedestrians including Miles, Blumenstein, Lauren Lew and Lew’s one-year old son Joshua Lew. Joshua was the second fatality after the accident when his stroller was dragged down the street before the driver crashed into parked cars.

A 46-year old male is also said to have been injured in the accident, but no further details have been released.
