University to Host Its Inaugural Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Arkansas State University will host its inaugural Eating Disorders Awareness week from February 26th to March 4th, in concurrence with the annual National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, in hopes of enhancing students’ awareness regarding eating disorders.
The university’s Counseling Center plans to coordinate the week-long affair at various on-campus venues to educate its students about the danger of eating disorders and to advocate body positivity-related dialogues.
Arkansas State has also scheduled a “Social Constructions of Healthy Bodies: Fatphobia, Feminism, and Dominant Narratives of Thinness” panel on Thursday, March 1st at 5 p.m., Central Time (CT). The forum will be led by invited guest panelists from William Paterson University and the University of Kentucky and is open to the public without charge.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) announced that the theme for its upcoming National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is ‘Let’s Get Real’. The aim of this year’s theme is to draw attention to the stigmatized untold narratives.
NEDA is the nation’s leading non-profit organization catered to fostering communities of healing for the estimated 30 million Americans and their families affected by eating disorders.
