Utica College Locked Down After ‘Credible Threat’

In yet another sign that every threat is being handled very seriously in the weeks after the Parkland, Fl. shooting, Utica College in upstate New York went into lockdown after police said they received a call about an individual with a gun on campus.

A large police presence is on the scene, but there are no reports of shots being fired, injures or arrests.

Law enforcement continues to evacuate buildings one by one and secure the area. The school has canceled all evening events.

Local media in Utica are reporting that, “a pair of phone calls threatening to take some sort of action at the Gordon Science Center on the campus.”

Several secondary schools around the area are also on lockdown.

The school’s website posted this alert:

Utica College is currently under a lock down due to a real, credible threat. Everyone on campus is to remain sheltered in place.

Continue to shelter in place until you receive instruction via UC Alert to do otherwise. There are armed police officers on campus. Please follow all instructions from law enforcement.

Armed, uniformed police officers will be cleaning buildings on campus as soon as possible. Comply with all law enforcement instructions. If you are sheltered in place, you will be evacuated and escorted to a safe location. Please stay where you are until directed by law enforcement.
