Vietnamese Man Dies in ICE Custody in Arizona
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, A Vietnamese man has died in custody in Arizona while awaiting deportation.
On Saturday, ICE reported that 47-year-old man Huy Chi Tran died Tuesday at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, where he was hospitalized after being found unresponsive at the Eloy Detention Center, an ICE facility about an hour southeast of Phoenix. Tran was hospitalized on June 5. The cause of death is unknown as an autopsy is pending.
According to the Associated Press, Tran is the seventh person to die in ICE custody since October.
Tran reportedly was a legal permanent resident of the U.S. but was awaiting deportation after being convicted of aggravated assault.
