The big story…

One Student Dead in Denver School Shooting

A school shooting in Denver left one student dead and eight others injured on Tuesday. CNN reports, “Two suspects were apprehended after the shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch, which covers K-12,Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said. About 1,850 students attend the school, according to its website.” The suspects are believed to be an adult male and a juvenile who are students at the school. This incident follows the recent 20th anniversary of the deadly shooting at Columbine High School, which lies just seven miles from the STEM School Highlands Ranch.

Uber and Lyft Drivers to Go on Strike

Despite the current success of the ride share companies, many Uber and Lyft drivers will be going on strike today to protest low wages. Demonstrations will take place in 10 major cities across the U.S., including a Brooklyn Bridge caravan in New York and a picket line at the Los Angeles airport. The protests are timed with Uber’s public stock offering which will open on Friday. The company is expected to be valued at $91.5 billion.
