West Virginia Student Kicked Out of Fraternity After Racist Social Media Post
A West Virginia University (WVU) student is no longer associated with his former fraternity and could face disciplinary action from the school after a video showing him using a slur toward a black waitress at a nightclub appeared online last night.
The Daily Athenaeum, WVU’s independent news source, identified the student as Menos Hiras, former member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Hiras, who is reportedly a WVU political science student, allegedly took video of himself using a slur from his Snapchat account and posted it to Twitter. His Twitter account has since been deleted.
Theta Chi responded with a statement on Twitter announcing that Hiros was “no longer affiliated with our fraternity.”

The university issued an official statement, which says, in part, that they are “aware of a student’s personal Snapchat social media post within the last several hours that uses inflammatory, racist language.”
That statement also says that the university has “notified Snapchat and other platforms of the offensive nature of the video, and is communicating its support to the targeted individual. The University is also reviewing potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct.”
The WVU SGA also issued a statement:
