Will ‘Black Panther’ Shatter Box Office Records?

Marvel’s new superhero movie Black Panther is projected to make at least $150 million over the upcoming President’s Day weekend, according to several experts.

If the film meets those expectations, its debut would stand as one of the highest-grossing opening weekends of all time.

The film has been gaining positive buzz for boasting a predominantly African-American cast, a rarity among Hollywood blockbusters.

Entertainment industry analysts are hopeful that, if Black Panther is a success, it could help pave the way for more non-white actors and women to take up the “hero” mantle on-screen.

Based on the Marvel comic book character, Black Panther takes place after the events that happened in Captain America: Civil War, where the Black Panther, also known as King T’Challa teams up with Dora Milaje, a female force group, and CIA agent Everett K. Ross to defeat the enemies of the kingdom and save the world from a major war.

Just four days until its official release date, Black Panther currently has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 97% and is heavily anticipated by audiences across the country.

With such a remarkably large fan base and a breaking record for most Imax pre-sale tickets sold, Black Panther is expected to make a significant impact in the box office.
