Woman Swallowed Whole By 23-Foot-Long Python

A 23-foot-long python swallowed a woman in Jakarta, Indonesia while she was checking on her vegetable garden on Thursday night.

On Friday, the family of 54-year-old Wa Tiba went to look for her at her garden, but only her sandals and flashlight remained. The villagers later found the snake with a bloated belly about 50 yards from her belongings.

After killing the snake, they brought it’s body back to the village and “When they cut open the snake’s belly they found Tiba’s body still intact with all her clothes. She was swallowed first from her head,” Faris, a village official, said.

The woman’s garden is located in a rocky area and is believed to contain many snakes, Faris also said.

“Reticulated pythons, which are widespread in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, grab onto their prey with dozens of sharp curved teeth and then squeeze it to death before swallowing it whole,” according to CNN.

It’s extremely rare for these snakes to kill humans, as they usually hunt monkeys, pigs and other mammals.

However, this was the second attack in Indonesia since March of last year, when a 25-year-old man also fell victim to a python.
