YouTube Announces Livestream of Coachella Throughout Festival Weekends
This year, YouTube is stepping up their nine-year partnership between Coachella, with an announcement stating that they will be hitting the desert, and will present live content over both weekends of the music fest
In recent years, YouTube typically will only live stream the first weekend, however now not only will the service will stream the festival’s first weekend, which takes place April 12th-14th, but YouTube will host a “curated live experience” on the second weekend, including select performances, artist vignettes, and behind-the-scenes footage of the festival.
Variety has also announced that “YouTube will be the exclusive playlist partner for Coachella, which includes playlist integration on the Coachella site and festival app and in YouTube Music.” This leaves many opportunities for fans to find emerging artists and delve into genre-based playlists on Coachella’s site and app along with YouTube Music.
To sweeten the deal between YouTube Music and YouTube Premium users, subscribers in the U.S. will have exclusive access to a dedicated allocation of passes for purchase for each weekend when tickets go on sale on Jan. 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. PT.
With acts like Ariana Grande, Solange Knowles, Janelle Monáe, H.E.R., the 1975, Weezer, Zedd, Diplo, Khalid, Chvrches, and Childish Gambino, YouTube doesn’t want fans left out of the fun, and that is exactly what they are going to bring in April 2019.
