CMN’s team of music writers is previewing the 2019 Grammy Awards. The 61st annual ceremony will take place Sunday, February 10 in Los Angeles. You can see all of our Grammy coverage here.

Toni Braxton: Sex and Cigarettes  – This album solidified Braxton’s return to the music scene and proves she is a legend. Even after a long hiatus, she is back and she is better than ever.

Leon Bridges: Good Thing – This might only be Bridges’ second album, but his fresh vocals simply demonstrate why he deserves to be nominated. Bridges is definitely making his mark in the mainstream music industry.

Lalah Hathaway: Honestly – Hathaway released one of the most sincere albums of her career. She pieces together relationships, talks about love, and shows how being honest can bring happiness.

H.E.R. – H.E.R. (aka Gabriella “Gabi” Wilson) might be fairly new to the Grammy stage, but she is no stranger to the music industry. H.E.R. stands for Having Everything Revealed and she definitely gave people a glimpse into her life experiences and who she is as an artist with this album.

PJ Morton: Gumbo Unplugged – The third live album and fifth overall album for Morton, who delivers an inspirational project. Because he is also such a talented musician, the album come together perfectly.

Most Likely to Win:

H.E.R. As a way to congratulate her on all the recent success and salute her for everything that she has contributed to the music industry.

Who Should Win:

Every album nominated gives a different taste of what R&B sounds like, but there is special about H.E.R.’s music that reassures people that she will be around for a long time.
