Auburn Suffers Season-Ending Loss at Gainesville Super Regional

The Florida Gators are headed back to the College World Series (CWS) for the fourth year in a row.

The reigning NCAA champions defeated the Auburn Tigers who were on a path to their first CWS appearance in 21 years.

Florida’s Austin Langworthy is credited with the game winning walk-off home run. The ball tipped off of Auburn right fielder Steven Williams’ glove bringing a heart wrenching end to the Tigers’ season.

Auburn fans took to Twitter to express their love and support for the team as their journey came to an end last night, but this wouldn’t be the first time this year that Auburn sports fans had this feeling.

Auburn’s football team was cut short of their journey to the College Football Playoffs by a 7-28 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. The Tigers’ men’s basketball team made their first bid to NCAA tournament in 15 years, but took a loss in the second round.

Last night’s loss comes as another “almost but not quite” for Auburn sports fans.
