Cardi B Reveals Baby Bump During “SNL” Performance

Cardi B. released her first studio album, “Invasion of Privacy” on Friday April 6th, 2018. The following day, she debuted on Saturday Night Live and after much speculation she officially confirmed the rumors surrounding her pregnancy.

During the first act, NBC News reports that Cardi hid her belly behind a feathered costume while performing hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi.” It was during the second set, while singing “Be Careful,” the camera panned out showing her unmistakable baby bump in a custom white Christian Siriano Gown.

Following the show, Cardi said, “I’m finally free!” and many of her fans, as well as other celebrities, celebrated not only her pregnancy, but her album on social media.

Although much of the response was positive, a few people suggested that the talented artist might of peaked. A few commentators took it a step further, saying that Cardi would struggle with having both a career and a family.

The New York radio station “Hot 97” interviewed Cardi during their segment Ebro in the Morning. Cardi addressed much of the sexism she was facing:

“Why can’t I have both? Like, why do I have to choose a baby or a career? I don’t like the feeling that people making me feel. Like a blessing is like a mistake or something.” Cardi continues, “I’m 25 years old and Imma say this in the most humblest way: I’m a millionaire. You think Imma give up when I gotta feed me and my child? Negative.”

After being released for only one day, Buzzfeed announced “Invasion of Privacy” was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. This means that the album was sold, downloaded or streamed more than 500,000 times, making Cardi the first female artist in history to achieve such an accomplishment.

Cardi B is a Bronx native and is currently engaged to Offset, a member of the musical group Migos.

“Thank you for all your support,” Offset posted on Instagram, “We feel so blessed.”
