Director Spielberg Suggests Next Indiana Jones Could Be a Woman

The director who brought you most recently Ready Player One, and most famously Indiana Jones is ready for his newest adventure.

Steven Spielberg spoke exclusively to The Sun saying that he is “pretty sure” Indiana Jones 5 will be Harrison Ford’s last movie as Indy, adding that the franchise “will certainly continue after that” as talk turned to if the character could be played by a woman.

“We’d have to change the name from Jones to Joan. And there would be nothing wrong with that,” he stated.

Spielberg is no stranger to gender equality, with him openly supporting strong women who influenced him, whether it be is mother, or even his wife. Another great example of this was when he stated to the  The Sun  that “everyone was equally paid [on Ready Player One]. And on The Post, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep got the same pay check exactly, right down to the perks.”

Indiana Jones 5 is expected to be released on July 10, 2020, so even though we have a while to wait…start thinking of leading ladies to play Indiana Joan!
