Explosion at Austin Goodwill Store Unrelated to Serial Bomber

A male Goodwill worker at an Austin location store sustained non-life-threatening injuries while sorting through donations when an incendiary device was triggered on Tuesday night.

The unidentified employee, described to be in his mid-30’s, was rushed to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was released after his injuries were administered to by medical personnel.

City authorities were in a state of high alert throughout the day after earlier reports of an overnight package abandoned at a San Antonio FedEx facility detonated early Tuesday morning.

Subsequently, the city’s law enforcement officers, with the assistance of the fire department’s hazmat team, intercepted a suspicious-looking package that contained an unactivated explosive at another FedEx facility in Austin.

NBC News reports that city officials have established a connection between the two FedEx packages and the four prior bombings that have occurred since March 2nd.

Tuesday evening’s blast at the Goodwill store, on the other hand, is believed to be an isolated incident unrelated to the succession of explosions in Austin.
