Fleetwood Mac Guitarist, Danny Kirwan, Dead at 68

Danny Kirwan died in London on Friday. He was part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac. Danny joined the band when he was 18. When Kirwan joined the band, the members were Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer.

He was the guitarist but also contributed vocals and wrote songs for many albums. He was with the band from 1968-1972.

He was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame with the other members of the band in 1998 but did not attend the ceremony.

Mick Fleetwood made Facebook posts regarding Kirwan’s death.

“Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to be asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.”

“Danny’s true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured over fifty years. Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will forever be missed!”
