Florida Man Gets Hit by Car Trying ‘In My Feelings’ Challenge

The recent hip-hop song “In My Feelings” is sweeping the nation, creating the latest viral dance challenge on social media. The dance, known as the “In My Feelings Challenge,” the “Keke Challenge,” and also the “Shiggy Challenge,” typically features an individual getting out of a moving car and dancing to the beginning lyrics of Drake’s new single.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the trend seemed to go too far when 22-year-old Jaylen Norwood was hit by a car while dancing in the street in Boynton Beach, Florida.

In the caption of his post on Instagram, Norwood claims that he intended to continue dancing on the hood of the approaching car, but slipped, getting struck by the vehicle instead. Norwood sustained no serious injuries, showing off his few bruises and scrapes at the end of the video:

Despite the mishap, Norwood appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night, saying that the accident was “worth it” and that he is now “the most famous guy in Florida.” During the conversation with Kimmel, Norwood explains how his best friend, the driver of the car that hit him, couldn’t hear Norwood saying “stop” when he slipped on the puddle while dancing.

On Friday, July 27, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) shared concerns about the dangers of the dance craze via Twitter.

“Crashes happen fast, sometimes in the blink of an eye. Driving distracted is dangerous and can be deadly. No call, no text, no update is worth a human life. No dance is either.”

 

 

The Boynton Beach Police also addressed Norwood’s situation specifically in a tweet:
