Former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld Will Likely Challenge Trump in 2020

Former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld has formed an exploratory committee for a Republican Party primary presidential run in 2020 against incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump.

Speaking at Saint Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics and New England Council on Friday, February 15, Weld, who was a former United States Attorney under the Republican presidential administration of Ronald Reagan during the 1980s, is the only known potential open challenger to Trump so far.

This is not the first time Weld attempted to run for the highest office in the country. In 2016, Weld was a vice presidential nominee for former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson’s presidential campaign running as a Libertarian Party candidate.
