Former Michigan State Doctor Larry Nassar Sentenced: 40 to 175 Years in Prison

Former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar has been sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct.

“You do not deserve to walk outside of a prison ever again,” Judge Rosemarie Aquilina said to those assembled in an Ingham County, Michigan, courtroom where Nassar was forced to listen to over 150 of his victims before his sentence was handed down.

“I signed your death warrant,” said Aquilina.

Nassar submitted a six-page letter to the court, but the judge did not consider Nassar’s words to be sincere.

Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon has been the subject of much criticism and faces calls to resign, while the NCAA has opened a formal investigation into the administration’s handling of complaints against Nassar. It’s possible that those who neglected to follow reporting procedures could be prosecuted.
