Georgetown University Approves LGBT-Only Dorm
Jesuit-run Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic University in America, recently approved a proposal to incorporate LGBT student housing on their campus.
The new Georgetown University dorms are believed to be the first LGBT residence at an American Catholic institution, causing an uproar by religious activists.

“The new ‘Living Learning Community’ (LLC), titled ‘Crossroads: Gender and Sexuality,’ was first proposed in April but was rejected,” according to the Washington Blade.
Georgetown, the first Jesuit university in the US to have an LGBTQ Resource center, will now champion LGBT student housing and thus, with it, the cause of diversity-inclusive collegiate culture everywhere.
“Our Catholic and Jesuit values call on us to engage with ‘respect, compassion, and sensitivity’ with our LGBTQ community. It is in keeping with our Catholic and Jesuit values to provide a language, perspective, and sense of inclusion for deepening our sense of cura personalis,” Olson wrote in an email to The Hoya, Georgetown’s school newspaper.
At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, Crossroads was re-proposed by two seniors at the university, Grace Smith and Henry Callander.
“Students will now begin to have a unique residential space dedicated to exploring and understanding themselves and others in relation to gender and sexuality,” Smith explained.
A specific group of Catholic extremists claim, “The Jesuits … are well known for their dissent from Church teaching on just about everything while claiming to be Catholic,” in the Church Militant.
