‘Gods of Rap’ Tour Announced

Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, and De La Soul recently announced United Kingdom shows for what is being billed as “The Gods of Rap” tour.

The tour will see each iconic group take to the stage to celebrate the anniversary of one of their classic albums: Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back, and 3 Feet High and Rising. The shows will be hosted and presented by DJ Premier, the popular American hip-hop producer, who was originally a part of the duo Gang Starr.

The shows will take place in London, Manchester, and Glasgow (full details below).

Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back have both been certified platinum since their release in the early 1990’s.

Wu-Tang Clan most recently performed at the Chicago-based Breaks II Festival last year, while Public Enemy has not performed since 2016, when they threw down at the Many Rivers to Cross festival in Atlanta.

De La Soul toured for much of last year at various festivals and smaller venues. In 2010, their Three Feet High and Rising was selected to be included in the National Recording Registry through the Library of Congress.  This registry annually selects recordings that are historically and culturally significant.

Tickets for the shows went on sale January 25th through SJM Concerts. SJM Promoter Chris Wareing said about the shows, “I don’t believe anything like this has been done in the UK before on this level. This tour creates a legacy, it’s a moment.”

No announcement has been made at this time about any further shows in the future or in the U.S.
