This One Book Answers All of Your Social Media Influencer Questions

Have you ever wanted to be like those girls (or guys) who get to travel around the world, take photos, eat delicious looking dessert AND get paid to make an Instagram post showing all of the fun? What if there was one book, curated for people like you and me, who would love to get into that industry but don’t know how?

Surprise, there is one book for that— and I’m going to talk all about it.

Let me start this off by saying no, I’m not joking, and this is not an exaggeration. This one book will answer all questions regarding being a social media influencer and all the steps to getting there, building a brand, crafting a website and creating a name for yourself.

Meet Brittany Hennessy— the first-ever Senior Director of Influencer Strategy and Talent Partnerships at Hearst Digital Media. She is responsible for casting celebrities and influencers for platforms like Seventeen, Cosmo, Elle, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and other lifestyle brands. She is also the author of this book called Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand In The Age Of Social Media. This book is aimed to help people like you (yes, you) who have always wanted to live your best life, share fun posts on Instagram and then get paid for it.

Hennessy starts off her book by clearing the air and explaining what this term “influencer” is and how it differs from being a “celebrity.”

Separated into different parts and then into even more specific chapters, Hennessy covers every aspect of creating your influencer presence, like building a community, packaging your brand, monetizing your influence and planning for the future. (Those are the four parts of her book, by the way. She seriously covers it all).

So, now on to the review: buy this book.

As someone who has always been interested in the social media industry, and a journalism and media student, this book was so intriguing. Even if you aren’t interested in pursuing social media as a career, but curious as to how and what your favorite social media stars do to make a living, pick this book up to finally have that “Oh, okay.. that makes sense” moment.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re not an influencer, and you don’t want to be one, so why would you need to read this? Here’s what’s magic about this book: You can take Brittany’s tips and relate it to so many aspects of your business life, regardless of what specific area of the media industry you’re in.

Many of Brittany’s tips have helped me build my brand as a writer, so this book can definitely help you, too. I’ve been able to transform my website and the way I advertise myself, and also learned so many interesting facts about how to get more traffic to my social media and website.

However, Brittany didn’t leave us with just her thoughts in her book. She included dozens of stories and sidebar Q&A’s with well-known influencers already in the industry. My personal favorite sidebar is hilariously titled “Don’t Be That Girl,” where she tells truly cringey stories about working with difficult influencers.

If you are interested in learning the steps to take to become the influencer you’ve always wanted to be, get your hands on a copy of  Influencer. It drops July 31! You will not regret learning from this professional who knows her stuff about this industry.

Be sure to stay updated on all things Influencer and Brittany Hennessy! Follow her Instagram @mrsbrittanyhennessy, and most importantly get your copy of Influencer today!
